Business Leadership South Africa (BLSA) welcomes the bold decision of the Standard Bank Board to hand the executive reins to Sim Tshabalala.
His commitment to business, government and civil society forums on economic growth and transformation is an example of the leadership qualities that are so urgently required in South Africa at this time.
In our recently unveiled Contract with South Africa, we committed to the encouragement and empowerment of senior black leadership, as well as growing a new generation of senior black business leaders and entrepreneurs.
Sim Tshabalala’s appointment is a demonstration of this goal, an inspiration to aspiring young leaders, and a firm motivation to inspire other corporates to identify and appoint black executives into senior positions.
Sim Tshabalala joins, among others, the black pool of excellence led by Dr. Sam Motsuenyane who founded the African Bank; Prof Lumkile Wiseman Nkuhlu who founded and managed MEEG Bank; the late Maduke Lot Ndlovu who was the CEO of Peoples Bank. He is a valued member of our BLSA board and we look forward to his continued wise counsel and unwavering commitment and support.
