South Africa’s finance minister Malusi Gigaba’s maiden Medium-Term Budget Policy Statement revealed a bleak state of public finances. The economic growth forecast was revised down to 0.7 percent from 1.3 percent for 2017. Joining CNBC Africa is Sizwe Mbele, director of strategy at BLSA.
