Let’s share positive business stories to inspire South Africans: BLSA COO
Business Leadership South Africa (BLSA) COO, Busi Mavuso said there so many untold positive stories about what business sector is doing to show how committed the captains of the industries in creating and expanding socio-economic growth opportunities for South African communities and its citizens.
Speaking at the launch of SA INC storytelling campaign and networking event which took place at the BLSA offices in Sandton on Wednesday, Mavuso said one of the key strategic pillars of BLSA is positioning business as a national asset. Mavuso said this includes driving a positive message about our country.
SA INC, which is a brainchild of South African filmmaker Shani Kay is a new 20-part series set to air on local TV channels with the aim of changing the narrative about South Africa to highlight and celebrate the country’s successes and achievements.
SA INC is a partnership between Business Leadership South Africa, Brand South Africa, and brand curation specialists Regency Global.
This partnership is producing positive stories of change, documenting examples of innovative, inclusive business-led development across the country. Season 1 comprising 18 stories has just gone to air with exponential distribution online.
Mavuso said the past 10 years has shown that it was time for the country to change its focus from all the doom and gloom that had engulfed this country, and shift focus from negative attitudes to project spotlight on stories from the business community that inspire everyone in this country.

“In this historic time of transformation, we need to create positive sentiment and commitment to rebuild investor confidence‚ stimulate growth and set South Africa on a path to sustained success.”
“As the champion of the idea that business is such a fundamental part of the solutions we need in SA, BLSA believes that the time is now to share the stories of how business is contributing to this agenda. Business believes that when business succeeds, South Africa succeeds. These are the stories that show what that means,” stressed Mavuso
As the event was attended by over 70 business leaders, representatives from Brand SA, Kay said this project is aimed at helping SA in moving step closer towards its true potential.
“We need to share positive news and capabilities this country has and spreading the good news is at the heart of SA INC with the objective of changing the narrative to highlight SA’s successes and achievements.”
“Let’s celebrate all that is great in this country in particular the business fraternity and engage with the contributors whose stories of positive impact are making waves and to find new synergies in helping to move South Africa progressively forward,” added Kay.
